Volunteer Officer Recall Office
210-565-2288

Direct line to the people who are handling these recalls. Call this number instead of the 1-800 number mentioned in the announcements. Unfortunately, they appear to be in the midst of a reorganization. I left a message yesterday and never received a return call.

Yes that is a good "general number" to call Recall Ops. Also you can use there e-mail account. at [email protected].
I just got told today my medical came back "cleared" and now its the aero board then set up a return date. I am hoping early Aug. Good Luck to all.

Got my SOI today! Yep, got it on a Saturday, and the scanned letter even has a real ink stamp on it dated today. They must be pulling some overtime to get thru these. As expected, headed to Ramstein, supposedly the 603 AOC.

For reference here's my timeline:
Application faxed on 4/10
Physical accomplished on 4/14
Physical signed off by CHS Clinic on 5/26 - 5 weeks delayed cause one person was TDY.
Called in for some extra tests on 6/9 (I have a weird eye condition that was waivered while I was on AD)
Package was sent out to the Panel on 7/6 (last Monday).
Medical signed off by AETC/SG on 7/9
Received SOI on 7/11, faxed reply back same day.

Edit: I should mention that I was never contacted by the assignments guy. It seems he sent me an email, but AFPC still had my old active duty email address, so it obviously didn't get to me, and they didn't follow-up with a phone call after not hearing back. Perhaps understandable given how busy they are, but the current info was on my application.

Total time elapsed was 92 days. The Panel only took a week, so perhaps it really is speeding things up. Now we'll see how fast things flow from here and whether I'm in the early Aug AOC class or have to wait for the next one.

Good luck to everyone waiting.

Congrats Kikuchiyo
I do concur they are really trying hard, I actually got someone the other day during a down day. I applied in mid Mar so it does sound like things are moving along better now. Have fun in Germany.

Got mine today also, kind of surprised. Mine is for PACAF AOC at Hickam. Timeline: faxed in paperwork 11 May physical same day (I scheduled it before doing paperwork) assignment guy contacted me on 10 June, physical paperwork approved by AETC/SG on 22 June, sent to board members on 6 July, SOI today. 61 days from start to SOI. Not sure how long for orders as I also have to go to AOC class. Good luck to all

AFORF,

What exactly is AOC class? It seems that there have been several of these assignments given (Ramstein and now Hickam). Also, do you have a 3 year commitment or 2? It seems like an overseas assignment has a 3 year...

Anyone apply for staff at Scott AFB???

The commitment for them to send you overseas is 3 years jst like before when we were on active duty. As far as the AOC class. It is initial qualification training that everyone being assigned to an Air and Space Operations Center (AOC) has to attend. This is required whether you are going to Al Udied or to Ramstein. There are specific tracks of training depending on which division you will be assigned to at the AOC. I am going to Combat Plans so I take the Combat Plans track at the AOC school, which is at Hurlburt. There is also some online training you have to complete before you attend the class.

Best of luck to all!!

Is the flight physical specifically for the return to AD or would a current flight physical (i.e. a 1042 dated from last month) suffice? Also, do you have a choice between signing a 3 year or 4 year contract? I thought I read that there are some strings attached to a four year contract but not sure. Thanks.

The website has a list of what is requried for your medical. The longer you have been out the more tests that are required for you medical package. If you are actively flying military (AD, Guard, Reserve) your current medical should be good. If you have been out for a while it will depend how long and what tests they will need to run. The best advice, read the website and then call or email Recall Ops your questions. If you submit a package and they need more they will always tell you but that could slow things down. They normally work packages in the order you submit them. Good Luck

For those of you going overseas and being assigned to an AOC, you will have to attend the AOC school at Hurlburt, FL enroute to your assignment. Never fear though, as the first guinea pig through the process, they worked out all of the details and issues getting me through the process. SSgt Bobick at AFPC is very knowledgeable and has been an excellent source of info and an extremely dedicated worker. If you have specific questions feel free to PM me.
