Coastie Pilot, it's a little off subject, but what's a typical patrol day like and what kind of missions does the HU-25 FLY? Do you back up rescue missions, or do any border patrol? Sharp looking airplane, btw. Always liked those. Thanks!

In a nutshell, search and rescue is the priority mission. The HU-25 is used to locate targets in the water and then conduct aerial deliveries of rescue gear (dewatering pumps, life rafts, EPIRB's).

Other missions are law enforcement (both migrant interdiction and counter drug ops) and maritime security patrols. We don't typically do border patrol, CBP has that one covered.

It's a great airplane with great versatility.
