Rhode Island ANG - UPT Application Seminar
The Rhode Island Air National Guard has a UPT hiring board this June, with applications due in May. The 143rd Airlift Wing flies C-130J Super Hercules in tactical airlift missions (NVG, airdrop, etc.).
We're hosting an open house for potential pilot applicants on April 10th, during our drill weekend. Even if you aren't considering applying this year but you think it's something you might be interested in sometime down the road, you're welcome to visit.
A few of our pilots will give an overview of the mission of the 143rd, and discuss the application, interview, commissioning, and training process involved with being a traditional Guard pilot. You'll have time to visit with current pilots and ask questions about how to stand out in the applicant pool.
If you're interested or know anyone who might be, shoot me a PM.

Man I wish I was on the east coast, it would be a lot less expensive for me to travel there for the weekend. That sounds very interesting, I'm seriously considering joining the ANG, and all the pilot spots in my state (OR) are filled from what I understand. I didn't get a clear answer from my recruiter when I spoke with him. Is it possible to join a national guard with another state, if i was willing to move there? Like say if I wanted to go to Rhode Island??

Hey, I was flying da F16 in the NJ guard, so hopfully I can just move rite over. Also, I can double up as a crew chief and fire fighter, if the unit has a need 4 that.
I was flying for Southwest, on their B747, mostly to their international destinations. Sometimes I have to really jump on those lazy FO's... you know the ones I'm talkin' bout, eh?
But, not with them any more... got a better job flying the B787 with United. Just love thos Boings. But, i should have plenty of time for the Gard over their.
Lemme me no how to apply. Over and Out <<< (that's pilot talk)
[edit: this is a "funny"... not intended to seriously address my desire, or serious lack of desire, to apply to a guard unit]
