Outstanding. Just this website alone has over 95,000 views for this topic. I haven't visited FI, BaseOps, or the others lately.
What is the metric used to determine when something goes 'viral'? Truly amazing. |

Baloney. One of the reasons my ALPA mag goes straight to the trash every month and all my ALPA emails are tagged as spam is because I became incredibly sick and tired of their primary school quality arguments and embellishments of what ALPA is "doing for me". ALPA members are an extremely high quality, well educated group of professionals. It is an insult that the union that represents them apparently assumes they don't have the intelligence and a strong enough ability to make rational decisions without a steady pummeling of propaganda that is so over the top most of the members I know simply throw it away.
This quote is particularly ironic "It is not our practice to fact check ALPA members because we do not work from the premise that our members are giving us misinformation." Unfortunately, it is grossly apparent that ALPA members cannot afford that same luxury when considering the products of their union. --rant off. G'Day Mates:) |

I retrieve my new copy of the May edition of the ALPA mag out of the trash can (I tip the postman simply to deposit it in the trash can rather than stain the junk mail by its' presence) and was surprised to read the "retraction". The "Open Letter to ALPA Members" in my view, validates the fact that the magazine, those that publish it and a good number of folks at 535 Herndon Parkway are completely out of touch with the line pilots, their needs and concerns along with the issues the piloting profession faces today. This "retraction" seems to view the Tim Martins selection as the ALPA Role Model for the Code of Ethics as a minor mistake rather than the train wreck it has become. I'm sure those in Herndon are thinking, " if we just put our heads in the sand, maybe it will go away" and Tim will turn out to be a hero after all.....

I'm just curious, and don't mean to thread jack, but if the ALPA leadership is so loathed by it's members, why don't you guys replace them? Do you not have a say in the matter? Seems like they're making an awful lot of money on your backs, for you to hate them so much.
In that regard, sounds like Congress. Anyways I agree the so-called "retraction" was rather defensive, even proud? and completely unapologetic. |
Is this guy's FB page still up?
