I just found this website. It seems too good to be true. Anyone out there have any input. I am 28. I graduated from The Citadel, class of 2004. I wear contacts and all I ever heard from the ROTC guys at El Cid was "You will never fly" with bad eyes. Currently I fly a corporate Baron. I have 2100tt and an ATP. Could I really get an Air Force pilot slot at 28? Or should I just stay put with my current cushy job. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Fighters - couldn't tell you. But you are certainly still eligible for the Army - active or Guard. The Army Guard will give waivers for surprisingly bad vision. And USERRA will keep your cushy job for you. In the AF I would be careful, there's a very good chance you'll end up in a trailer flying UAS.

This program must be for Navy/Marines only, because I looked for the names of his testimonials on the AF global email list and only came up with 1 hit...Anthony Ziegler. And he fly Predators. So much for the Power Pack.

Elcid: Yes, you could get a pilot slot at 28. I would look into the Air National Guard.

I would start papering guard units of any platform everywhere with your resume. You're dangerously close to being too old, if not already. If you wanto to fly for the military, you need to take the first thing that comes along. The upside to that is there isn't anything that sucks to fly. (You don't fly predators as much as they argue it)

Go to baseops.net and click on the forums space at the top. Great site for all sorts of Air Force information on becoming and being a pilot. There is a search function that will get you a lot of information.

That site is nothing more than someone who took probably got the MBA on the military's dime and for his class project decided to launch a website telling people how to *becomeafighterpilot*.
Nothing more or less than 1,000s of those other *How to sell your house for millions*, *How to earn millions from working at home*, *How to sell fire extinguishers* types of websites in my opinion.

Wow, I thought I had seen it all. I've been asked many times about paths to become a fighter pilot...never dreamed of making money for my advice. Guess I figured it was part of my privelege/responsibility to help the next generation.

Ed T. Rush, you are a clown.

Frankly, those guys are ignorant! In the Air Force you can have up to 20/70 (correctable to 20/20) WITHOUT a waiver. When I went through my medical they were waivering up to 20/200. You can even get PRK but if you do, I would consult an AF doc before doing so....also being so close to 30 I wouldn't count on this for the AF.

Currently I fly a corporate Baron. I have 2100tt and an ATP. Could I really get an Air Force pilot slot at 28?
Where do you live? Why not do both? Start looking around to Air National Guard units. Have you taken the AFOQT? TBAS? If not get them scheduled ASAP! Knock those out, throw a packet together and fire them off to Guard units. I would highly recommend actually visiting the unit and dropping your packet off, in person. Showing up to the unit shows interest, more so than the dudes who just shotgun emails out. Which I would still do because you may still get an interview.

Your age is going to be a factor, in the AF you have to start pilot training by your 30th birthday. Past that you have to have a waiver, which are very rare but I know 3 people personally who have done it. Check out WantsCheck.Com Military Flight Planning and Cadet Resources.

Or should I just stay put with my current cushy job. Any input would be great. Thanks.
Depends, what do you want? I flew before joining the military and loved it...actually going to be going back to it soon, as I'm guardsman. But let me tell you, the flying I do in the military is way more fun and more rewarding than anything I have ever done in the civilian world. Plus that will always be there....the chance to fly in the military will not.

Goodluck, feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
