So, you want him to go through all this to basically do the same thing that he did on here... ask a question?
Or, he could post a question on a forum and hope that the nameless 2Lt, who gave a take home pay figure with no explanation whatsoever about how he arrived at it, knew what he was talking about. Never mind the variables on exemptions, marital status, training location, etc. Nahhhh, I'm sure the take home figure will be accurate down to the penny - what was I thinking??

I take it most single guys live in the dorms during UPT. However, once completed with everything and stationed with your Unit do most guys live on or off base? Some guys I have spoken with said that they got a three or four room apartment/house and split the rent. This sounds like a great way to save money. Any incite?

If you'd like some insight......... You don't have to live in the "Qs" (dorms) but if you're easily distracted and want to focus on the job at hand (i.e. getting wings), it's not a bad idea. Yes, you can live off base if you'd like after UPT as well. The USAF can't make you live on base. You can share your apartment with anyone you'd like. Generally speaking, 3 or 4 Lts in the USAF have more buying power than just one. Plus, you can have some pretty good parties. |

Part of being smart is not wasting time only to end up with a questionable result. Using this message board in lieu of the other many resources he has available isn't "working smart", IMO. In this case, using the military pay professionals at his Guard unit or via telephone at the base he will be attending UPT is probably the "smartest" way to get a real answer. |

Single students are made to live on base all the time if the Q is not full. No great sacrifice in garden spots like Enid, CBM or Del rio (Hell in Del Rio I'd want to live behind a tall fence.)

Mustang,
Couple things, all that went on here was some good old hazing. So let's review: Not one of your IPs will be required to earn your respect, give it regardless, your "career" and "flight training" have not begun so you have not even started your journey let alone come "too far", and friend, in the Air Force, you are not a soldier-plus as a 2Lt no one is below you in rank not even enlisted, you are such a boot at that stage that your voice will be regarded as little more than a cricket. But have fun Forrest(yep 2 Rs, can't even get that right). One last thing, sit down and learn the difference between your and you're. |

I would especially not ask questions like this:

Never tried to JS on Spirit. Does anyone know if they charge you for your bags or anything non-standard like that?
From what I can see on the ALPA website, it's just walk up to the gate and fill out a form. Any requirement to list via phone? Any and all gouge would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, AD

Hey guys,
I'm looking for guidance, FAR references, CRAR, etc. on the following scenario: IGONO 1W arrival into ZGGG. Basically it's a straight shot from an IAF to a point on downwind arriving from the northeast. Left turn to base and then pick up the ILS 02L from there.

Feb vacation - 11 days (the last 11 days of the month w/ a slide) 3 days of carryover from Jan into Feb. If I bid a line that has 2 trips. A 40 hour trip in conflict w/ my carryover and a 25 hour trip in conflict w/ my vacation - How does this play out regarding pay/make-up, etc. (all in good fun, Adler) |
