My guess is that in three years or less we will see cuts in the military budget that will make the Carter era seem nice.

Anybody else see the lack of common sense in transforming a "strategic" reserve force into an "operational" reserve force but with less money? Those are their terms, not mine...

We got the news today as well, and we are in the middle of an ASEV. I don't think they realize how much of the load is carried by troughers/bums and now we are essentially unemployed, but somehow we have to get all our beans and stupid cbt's done, then be willing to mobilize this fall.

I think is a temporary problem, but am worried that when we do get a budget, we might get IDT's back but that is it as we've already burnt the RPA money for the FY.

Game over-

This is bull. Time to quit. I've never felt so non-current in my entire life. I think I've had maybe 15 sorties this fiscal year.

As an IMA, i'm hearing it also. On my AT now and completed 17 IDTs in bulk last month. I may have skirted the process by locking in my AT early. Anything additional in the rest of this FY I believe will be a challenge. This gig will not be as good as it use to be. Some of the COCOMS may have kept some of their MPA but this is questionable. I'll find out when I get back to EUCOM in April. This could be a rough ride for all of us old timers...still in uniform. I'm just waitng for a RIF in the Reserves too.
My AD friend told me Friday that there will be no more continuation boards for double passover 0-4s and 0-5s on AD. I wonder if this means some 0-4s eventually won't make it to 20!

My DO, SQ/CC, and OG/CC all gave us the news on Friday in one form or another. I tend to believe them. I'm sure we'll all have more money than we can spend come Sept 1, that's how it always seems to work...oh, and don't forget that all the full timers will get new 24" LED monitors for their desktop computers then too!

The other thing I wonder is if AFRC/ANG will start trying to force out a lot of the 20+ yr O-5's still in. New/young guns absorb the new cool-aid being circulated much more readily than those of us around for some time. Just a thought.

For us, we will probably plant another 100 trees around the base, tear down and rebuild the squadron building (which was built way way back in the 1980s), and then buy a few more printers/copiers that do everything you'd ever care for a copier to do.

Meanwhile, money to actually go out and fly, there is none.... unless they need us to continue mobilizing every 18 months to support the war effort.

Hah...ya right! Those dudes (AGR at least) are settled in tight and won't leave until they are forced out. I have heard there are some bases that kick you when you get you 20 years AGR...seems like most do not.

Don't forget to mention all the money we are blowing for a DEPEX and ORI where we fly a huge contingent of folks to either Gulfport, Wisconsin, or Savannah to spend a week of doing crap all the while constrained to rules that would get tossed out if it happened for real..

We have a DEPEX coming up. Kind of hard to do that when there is no AT money. Granted, the DEPEX is after March 4th, but it would be funny.

Our unit is not looking to waive any currency requirements. Are any of your units looking to show the pain or are folks just going to waive a lot of the requirements?

Cheers,
