Don't forget to mention all the money we are blowing for a DEPEX and ORI where we fly a huge contingent of folks to either Gulfport, Wisconsin, or Savannah to spend a week of doing crap all the while constrained to rules that would get tossed out if it happened for real..
We have a DEPEX coming up. Kind of hard to do that when there is no AT money. Granted, the DEPEX is after March 4th, but it would be funny. Our unit is not looking to waive any currency requirements. Are any of your units looking to show the pain or are folks just going to waive a lot of the requirements? Cheers, C17D Also of note, we got the number of sim periods offered by our "new" sim contractor, CAE, cut back so much that it is mathematically impossible for us to get all of our required sim events done. We could probably fund a small air force by cutting out most of the dozens of stupid compliance inspections/exercises required by our love of constantly changing and conflicting OIs. Also, do we really need HARM/SARM or baseops/weather at most domestic locations? I know I know, sacrilegious, but I know for a fact that many bases pay civilian weather contractors $50-$80K just to forecast (ie read off ADDS) weather we can all get by going online. KC |

For us, we will probably plant another 100 trees around the base, tear down and rebuild the squadron building (which was built way way back in the 1980s), and then buy a few more printers/copiers that do everything you'd ever care for a copier to do.
Meanwhile, money to actually go out and fly, there is none.... unless they need us to continue mobilizing every 18 months to support the war effort. KC I know we all have stories like this, but you said it best. It will be the unit members and mission that suffer and all the extra crap we don't need will continue to still be there.

Below is the latest official news I have received...
ALCON, The ARC continues to operate under a Continuing Resolution Authority (CRA) that is scheduled to expire on March 4, 2011. At this time there is not an approved budget. Without an approved budget or an extension to the current CRA, we have no authority to spend money beyond March 4, 2011. At this time, funding authority for the Reserve Personnel Appropriation (RPA) is near exhaustion at the Command level. Therefore, all IDTs (not approved in UTAPSweb) & RPA orders: Annual Tour (AT), Active Duty For Training (ADT), Active Duty for Special Works (ADSW) and unit funded School tours that start after March 4, 2011 are being disapproved and sent back to the member's Detachment. We will inform you as soon as an update to the budget is received, as well as provide procedures for processing disapproved orders/tour requests. IMAs may perform their schedule Inactive Duty Training (IDTs) approved in UTAPSweb through March 31, 2011. All Centrally Managed School tours with a March start date have priority and will be approved during this period. "DO NOT CANCEL ANY CENTRALLY MANAGED SCHOOL TOURS". Cancellations must be coordinated through RMG/DPT, DSN 497-0608. Some members have encountered issues trying to obtain airline tickets for centrally managed school tours without a published order, due to our current funding status. Contact your Detachment Program Manager for a VOCO authorization letter. It is possible that current RPA orders might require curtailment; however, please hold off cancelling or inputting additional RPA orders/tour requests to AROWS-R at this time, pending additional guidance. Bottom-line: This message is simply a heads up that there is a delay on approval of orders/IDTs after March 4, 2011. Please be patient with us as soon as we receive budget information we will get it out to you. MSgt Ralph Bitter RMG/PA Comm. 478-327-0852 DSN 497-0852 |
Its bad...
...really bad. I'm down to 2 days a month, my UTAs, which can't currently be rescheduled now. AT finished, and I was hoping to say them for a TDY. I feel like I can't contribute. Its time to start job hunting and look for a better Reserve job. If you're in ACC, forget about extra money. They've been out of money for a long time. Forget about it...until September that is.
