Need a little advice...
I am doing a little research about civilian flying jobs. Here's what I currently have:
~1000TT (900 turbine)
~600 PIC, multi engine jet
Commercial and Class 1
4 yr degree
I know it's fairly low hours, what - if any would my civilian options be? Hopefully trying to dodge flying to my death in the left seat of a -8/CRJ at the hands of some 21 year old kid straight out of the ATP factory.
Any help would be appreciated, derogatory comments welcome only if they're entertaining.
Thanks!

You need another 100 turbine to even meet mins for some majors.
Check out the websites for DAL, JetBlue, Virgin, etc.
The higher-paying majors (SWA, FDX, UPS) will require 1000-1500 turbine PIC to even look at you.
You are probably looking at doing some right seat time at a regional to get your turbine time up, with your military background you don't need to stay long enough to upgrade (unless you want SWA, etc). There are other options too (135 cargo, corporate, etc).
Can you find a reserve/guard flying slot?

Thanks for info. Oops - I guess I had the right seat / left seat confused.
(Why would you want to fly with your left hand though if you're the PIC?!)
Anyway, mute point. Any regional airlines have significantly better / worse reputations than any other? Can you get hired by a major airline while still working for a minor (once you make mins etc...)?
Where would you find corporate job opportunities?
Looking into Guard, but nothing is available for my airframe.
Thanks again.

Hey Billy I'd PM you if I could, but you're still too new so I'll post this on here. Are you in the process of VSPing? What year group are you in? I'm also trying to do the same thing and am in a similar hour situation. Wouldn't mind going to the regionals, but really want to find a good guard/reserve gig.

Good thing about the Guard is they will train you to fly their airframe.

Mesa, TSA, Colgan, Gojet are places best avoided. Pinnacle used to be bad news but I think they are improving things over there (which will eventually include colgan I think).
That is all based on who you know, personality, and good looks. If you know any mil buds doing that, give them a buz. If not, you need to start hanging out at airports...
Also consider 135, some operators hire candidates off the street without internal hookups. Of course you probably don't want to work for those companies for very long...
