Tanker Mafia
#12
Flew several tankers for Systems Command, but only a couple of them actually "tanked": one with an instrumented boom and the other with a water spray nozzle for icing tests. The others were "cut 'n pasted" with special project equipment, cameras, sensors, etc. All were old hand-me-down tankers from SAC, renamed NKC-135, meaning they could not be restored to their original configuration. We also had former C-135s from MAC, renamed EC-135N, NC-135, etc.

We had an NKC-135 at a bare base for the afghanistan show of force. Don't know what they did and they were only there a couple of weeks before they disappeared in the night. Their crew stuck to themselves and I remember them wearing black flightsuits. Hush-hush-world I'm sure. Strange nose gained a lot of looks from us tanker choads.

Boom2Pilot....hmmm....is that like A**2Mouth? I kid, I kid! Congratulations on going to UPT. Your biggest challenge will probably not telling the boom how to do his job everyday! Good luck!

flyfish,
Thanks, I was one of the lucky first round picks. Still trying to work out a new job. Guess they really upped the numbers in the last week. Good for the rest that I know want to separate. Bad for job competition.
