Default F-35B LHD Suitability

Way cool video:F-35B Ship Suitability Testing - YouTube

At 2:00, looks like a lot of extra compressor washes would be in order.

Does anyone know why the canopy is hinged forward?

Seems odd to see Lt. Col and Maj. on the canopy rails of a jet operating on a carrier deck

It would be normal for most aircraft on the deck of an LHD to bear Marine ranks right?
Maybe the canopy is hinged forward to keep it away from the lift engine?

I believe it's so they can pull the ejection seat out without having to remove the canopy. Also makes the replacement of other large avionics pieces easier.

Could be another rumor, but it sounds about right.
