Military Rotary Wing to Civilian
Anyone have a good list of schools that offer rotary wing CFI, CFII, and ATP and are also VA Post 9/11 GI Bill approved? I'm retiring soon, and would like to get these additional certifications to help with civilian employment.

Tons of schools in Florida offer helicopter training with the GI Bill... I've heard good things about this school:
Cloud 9 Helicopters Flight Training School West Palm Beach Florida
and also I know of a good helicopter school in St. Augustine, FL but I can't think of the name at the moment. They fly R44's though and they are reasonably priced.

This is just me, but I enrolled at Palm Beach State College for the Professional Pilot program with the post 9/11 gi bill. I got my CFI, CFII, ME and MEI at no cost to me at all, plus I took some classes towards my Associate degree....and received BAH allowance for an E-5 as long as I was considered a full time student. This is a superb benefit, specially you can take a time builder to be a R-44 CFI (SFAR rules requires you to fly at least 50hrs on a R44 of which 25hrs can be from a R22 before you can get you CFI), you can take external load class, NVG, Turbine Transition...etc.

Were you able to obtain your Private Pilot Lic there? I'm confused as to how that works. After flight school we all went downtown and got the Commercial Rotorcraft-Instrument FAA cert, but I'm hearing that you need a Private Pilot Lic as well. Apologies for my confusion. Just starting to learn all that is entailed for flying on the civilian side.

If you were a military helicopter instructor you can get a CFI and CFII for Rotorcraft-helicopter easily thru the FAA Mil Comp program. All that is required is that you take the Mil Comp Instructor test (MCI) $150, then have a FSDO sign you off (free).

If you do this, do like everyone else did and buy the Sheppard Air test prep. I think it's $50.
