Default Mil leave in the IRR for online courses

I don't know if this has been asked before but has anyone had any luck using military leave while completing correspondence courses. In the IRR right now and completing these courses for points only. Wondering if you could lay down a block of mil leave as long as you have documentation that you worked on or completed those course on those days.

I'm of course hearing confliciting responses from different people.

Thanks in advance

No, you have to be on orders or in a drill status which is also considered essentially on orders. Since you can do IRR courses more or less at your leisure I can't see why you would need mil leave. Most guys I know did them on trips so they did not have to waste time at home.
