Cipro - still popular military antibiotic ?

Yup, dumbass Flight Surgeon prescribed doxy for Malaria (Rwanda). Didn't say a damn thing about the whole gut thing...My issues lingered for 3 years: alternating random bouts of "no notice" diarrhea and painful constipation, GERD, countless nights of poor/no sleep...I'd highly recommend dosing yourself with pro-biotics during and after any long term use of an anti-biotic like Doxy.

I used Cipro flying to India. I always got sick in Mumbai (never Dehli?). I would eliminate the food and drink and still get sick. I found the cure: don't go to India.
I can't donate blood anymore either. Red Cross doesn't want it.

The wife is a ER doc that does medlink shifts in PHX. I just asked her for her thoughts on this. She says cipro is a good go to for certain ailments in different parts of the world but may not be affective in others. I got really sick in Thailand and according to her the bug there has high tolerance against cipro. So she prescribed a different antibiotic that would be region specific. So basically yea it's a good drug, but not a one stop shop. Does this help?
