Thunderbird Commander on Reddit

...what was this thread about again?

If Thunderbird 1 looked at the transcript of that, I'm betting he was p1ssed. I don't know what Reddit is, but that was about the most immature group of folks that I've come across. Pathetic.
Had I been him, I'd have bailed out a few posts into it.

When did they jack up the G-limiter on the F-16 to 10? Or was it another airplane?
We had a guy once get disoriented in an F-15 over the Gulf of Mexico at night, found himself something like 70 degrees nose low and inverted, 400+ knots, rapidly passing 2,000'. We had the video - kind of a gasp as he realized his predicament, rolled, and pulled 12 to 13 G, missed the water by 100' or so.
We always liked to use that as an example of why it's nice not to be G-limited. Sometimes, you need it.

I hope BA#1 never does anything like that!
I did find the article on the F-16 -vs- F/A-18 interesting though and accurate comparing the pros/cons of each to what most have ever said that flew both at some point in their careers. One difference from what I have heard others mention (maybe Grumble or BDGERJMN will chime in) - the Super IS NOT a more maneuverable airplane than the Legacy Hornet - especially the earlier Lot 9s (upgraded (A+s)) or the Lot 16-18s for example; but a better A/G platform with the SA tools available.

In terms of advanced handling characteristics, its two fold. In most cases below 15K the Rhino will rate much better than a Hornet similarly configured. Maneuverability, hands down, goes to the Hornet. The Hornet is sorta like driving a Ferrarri while the Rhino would be the pickup truck...That said, I dont sweat gas in a Rhino whereas I'm always trying to make gas in the Hornet. They both do the same thing (minus APG-79, thats a game changer) in the grand scheme, the Rhino just does it with newer gear and more gas.

The Rhino is a pig most of the time compared to the Hornet until you pull the inboard pylons off. Pull them all off, and you're talking. A slick E (or with just the centerline) and a 50% fuel load is a monster, energy addition, turn rate, etc. Helmet and 9X just make it even more lethal. Mind you a 50% fuel load on internals over is still over 7K lbs of gas. A slick Alpha is great (or a Charlie with EPE motors), but the Rhino is starting to hit it's stride.
