Default ATPw vs ATP

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions...I'm curious if an ATP is really necessary for airline hiring? If one attains the ATP written, should that suffice for most?
Thanks!

Anything is possible in the bizarre world of aviation...but you should get your ATP. Keep in mind there are still furloughed pilots, the corporate and regional pilots (with a lot more hours than us military folks), and the widebody expats that are looking to come home with things improving.

Times are improving for pilots, but it is a highly qualified market! Just consider it an investment in your future...

If you are going to take the written, go ahead and finish it off. I would say an airline is going to use it as a stratifier or at least a square filler. I agree with MayFly135s, it is an investment.
