I got a call this morning from a company contracted by Washington Mutual to perform collectons. They were looking for somebody with the same first and last name as me, but a different middle initial and a different address. He would not listen when I told him he had the wrong person. He told me he would keep calling until I paid and that he knew it was me. Well, I have never done business with Washington Mutual and probably never will.
But, since they enjoy harassing phone calls, I thought of something. Whenever I get bored, I think I will call them and tell them to go perform sexual acts on themselves. If you get bored and want to have a little fun, give them a call. They can be reached at 651-204-1314. The company is IC Systems and they were calling on behalf of Washington Mutual, if you would like to verify that before you start telling them what you think of them. Have fun!

"Please note in my file that the next call I receive from your company will be met with the LOUDEST airhorn I can afford. I might even take a loan out in order to buy a louder one."
Then, have a good time if they call back. I bet you they won't call more than once since the next guy will definitely log your airhorn if the first guy doesn't.

Yea, I did think of that. I check my credit report fairly regularly and the last time I checked it was about two weeks ago. The collector said I haven't made a payment in four months so that would have appeared on my report at that time. I believe the deal is that their was someone with the same first and last name as me didn't pay their bills so they are calling everyone with that name. The middle initial and the address were different from mine though.

Washington Mutual or "WaMu" as they stupidly call it has done this before. I know of a case where they only had the last name correct but still kept calling anyway. Finally after a conversation with a supervisor and talks of legal actions Washington Mutual backed off without so much as an appology.
Beware----Capital One is now WaMu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Conversation with collection agency for legit or non-legit debts:
"What is y'all address?
Thank you. Now according to the Fair Credit and Collection Act, do not contact me again regarding this matter."
Then send a certified letter stating the same thing.
Finally, if they do ever call again, tell 'em the same thing, and record the fact that they called and if they threaten to do any illegal activities. Eventually you can sue them for harrassment.
Usually, the statement stops the calls immediately.
