Flight levels are slowly coming back with some states opening up again. Nobody knows what the new normal will be for flight levels once things are really open. There could be furloughs here also, or competition dies and we grow or we build back to a level that is less than before, but not worth furloughing for. The third is my best guess. As far as hiring pilots,we got an update yesterday that said whenever they spool it up again, those already in the system would be first- no flushing the pool. I find it doubtful there will be any hiring the rest of the year unless the rich are so freaked out that they buy in like never before.

this is pretty much what i figure the deal would be. massive furloughs across the industry with no jobs available for the 10000 or so unemployed pilots.

thanks uncle sam.

Default Berkshire Annual Meeting

Did anyone watch the BH annual meeting online? Did Warren say anything about NetJets? I'm asking because he sold all his airline stock.

Those that watched the meeting said he didn't mention NetJets.

Be interesting to see what happens to airline stocks on Monday after Warren bailed out taking some large losses.

Netjets is really not worth mentioning. At one point, Berkshire's market cap was $550 billion. Now it's down to like $440 billion. Netjets is 2% of that market cap

The only reason he remembers he owns us is because he flies on us regularly

I would be EXTREMELY surprised if we hire this year.

Frankly I don't see us hiring next year either

That is correct. NJA is a pimple on Birkshire's PNL. In fact, all the airline stock he sold was worth significantly more than NJA. NJA wouldn't be worth mentioning and that is actually a compliment. NJA isn't in dire straits right now, and although they are feeling the hardship that everyone else is is feeling, They are staying the course, which is what a well run company should be doing.

The only thing that gets us back into hiring in 2020/2021 is when/if the pilot to airplane ratio drops below 5. If we do reach that number expect hiring to remain equal to attrition. For hiring to outpace attrition we will need to grow the fleet.
