Yes. 6 lessons is tough. I think 6 is tough enough for just a SIC type. It's really asking a lot for a ATP/PIC type ride for a guy who never flew the Saab, and exponentially so for someone with no 121 turboprop experience.

Back in the day when places like Eagle hired 250 hour pilots they bent over backwards to get those guys all sorts of extra training. I'm not sure if they still do that at some places or not. If some places still do that I think that might be a much safer bet for pilots with no turboprop experience. I'm just putting that out there for new guys to think about. Something to consider. ..

With the training still being done at PanAm in MSP, there is plenty of opportunity to get some extra time in during initial training. One just has to be willing to do things on their own and not rely on the company for extra training.

I know we were told we could use the sims as "paper tigers" as long as they weren't in use for training, stayed off motion, etc. We took advantage of this time and time again and it really helped.

All I'm saying is be careful and don't burn bridges to an old job to come to Silver.

Ok. Aren't you the guy that went through training for the Saab and didn't do one day on line? The result of a computer mistake that showed you as Beech Captain in which you weren't hired, that you didn't deserve and you didn't bid for so you quit?

If this is correct, your the last person that should comment on burning bridges or telling people about Silver.

It doesn't take someone working at Silver years to figure out that its a gamble with your career trying to make it through training. That guy has more experience on the Saab than prolly most if not all of Silvers captains and Im sure he helped out his sim partner quite a bit. End result his partner still washed out, it's no surprise that this is happening when you only get 6 or 7 lessons. While I agree practicing in the sim with it off is good it's still no substitution for when it's running or out on the line. A good friend there that is a captain is experiencing these new FO's and it's not pretty.

Tony was an incredible instructor and we were lucky to have him here at AG for even a month.

80-90% of the effort that's required to make it through sim training is preparing. You can't show up to a sim session unprepared, the sim is not the place to learn the flows, profiles and tests, that's what the CPT is for. Unfortunately some guys failed to realize this and it cost them their jobs.
