There are many reasons that benefit the company to structure it this way instead of a raise.
1.) A raise is permanent. If an employee stays long enough the raise will work out higher in the long run.
2.) A raise would have to be given to the entire group.
3.) No union negotiation to give a bonus
4.) A bonus doesnt become part of a companies recurring costs
5.) A bonus doesnt become part of a new hourly rate for basing future new hourly rates from.
6.) A bonus doesnt become part of the equation for benefits that are based on a percentage of salary such as 401k and life insurance.

Get ya "Regional Airline of the year" lanyards.... also available in fuchsia

What's sad is they know how bad this place is if they have to put a stipulation that the new hire has to stay for 6 months.......
If this place would have upgrades not just into the Beech, but the Saab also, I wouldn't be leaving. Either PIC or jet time, neither is happening either. And from the sounds of it, not even for Captains on reserve up north. And how about a Christmas bonus, instead of spending money on useless promotional things.

Oh lil' Mr. Props, lil' Mr Props...we're talking about a company that messes up payroll every month! A company that nickel & dimes their employees on a simple meal voucher! A company that won't even pay for a ground repo! Should I keep on going? And you think that they'll actually pay $2500 per pilot referral? You're so gullible. I really really really really really hope it's true, but lets talk after you refer your first pilot. I'm not wasting my time on this referral garbage.
Drink that fuchsia drink Mr. Props drink it on up, just be careful not to walk around with a fuchsia mustache

We will always be Regional Airline of the Year! Always! That's why I walk in slow motion and introduce myself as Maverick to the passengers. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it. It's like the time I greased one on then looked back at the cutie sitting in 1A, winked, then asked her; how'd you like my flare? She blushed...enough said.
