Five hours short?

Solution: Pick up open time ASAP.

Plus, what are they gonna do, audit everyone's logbook the day the staffing bid closes? I doubt it. Apply a little bit of common sense and you'll be fine.

If You say you have the qualifications on the staffing bid, but CrewTrac shows you don't, they will make you prove your time. If you're 10-20 hrs short, you can argue that CrewTrac messes with single engine turns, pushback, deice, etc. Anything more is sketchy. I've been on property for 2 years and don't get to bid CA because I'm 100 hrs short even though I'd meet the requirements by Jan. If they wanted to keep FOs, they should just let them bid and just bypass them at the time of upgrade if theyre still short. I imagine anyone hired before July 2012 must be close, and wouldn't upgrade for months anyways, giving them plenty of time to get their 1000. Especially considering there are Captains that got hired into the left seat with no prior 121 time, granted the regs were different then.

So... I got to thinking about the Condè Nast Traveler's readers' choice awards for the top 10 airlines in the United States. Even though we made the list at #8, only 39.3% of the respondents rated us as "excellent" or "very good."

Which means 60.7% of the readers rated us as "good, fair, and poor." I also wonder who else we were up against, as not very many other carriers that aren't on the list provide lift under their own name.

Interesting however all I care about is that extra vacation day. We all really know that we do not deserve any one of those awards. Oh and I hope we get t-shirts, I used my ATW Regional of the Year t-shirt to pick up my dogs poop.

They'll figure out a way to screw this staffing bid also. They never go by the contract so what makes you think they will this time? I remember how by just one ity bity question I got royally screwed, so if I were you I'd just bid it. Silver can't afford to fire any fo's anyway.

I pushed my class date back in the hopes of being able to stay so I can go to IAD and fly with the wife, but I've been ignored, so I'm out. Good luck to all you guys, and if I can do something for you Silver Alumni out there, let me know. Management is what it is, but I worked with an awesome pilot and flight attendant group, even though there were some that I didn't see eye to eye with. I'm going to miss the flying though.

From the CP: "So they want to lie about their 121 SIC time in hopes of getting an upgrade, even though they'd have it before we run an upgrade."

That's exactly true. He's reiterating our point. Except we're trying to make it so we aren't forced to lie about our time. The CP keeps telling the union "The FAA says you have to have that time in order to check off that box on the staffing bid saying you have the time" Tell me where in the regs it's says ANYTHING about bidding... Having the time at the start of class is a no brainer, but not for a bid that may not effect you for months down the road. Besides, in the past we had captains bypass a few upgrade classes because they weren't 23 at the time...

jsfBoat 11-18-2013 06:35 AM

As long as you'd have it by the upgrade check ride, which within 100 hours is acceptable IMO. Sandrich, are you still here? I personally think they're doing things to protect the off the street captains so they don't bail as well.

I was under the impression EK was gone this time like actually for good.
