The majority of the pilot group currently at Silver chose to participate in the PFT program when Gulfstream was still around..... Their mindsets on what's good or bad for them will be way different than someone who chose not to drop tens of thousands of dollars to jump right into the airlines.

The problem isn't the LOA or the union...it's the 51% of the pilot group that's dumb enough to believe whatever BS the union feeds them to get them to vote it through. Because let's face it, a good part of the seniority list will either have trouble getting/don't want jobs at other carriers, so they'll do whatever it takes to make sure they still have a job. A lot of the senior guys are b*tching and moaning because they will no longer be able to rape the company of money when they duty out at 12:01 and get an extra six hours of pay, or they refuse to do a sim session at 3am... Meanwhile guys up north just want to be able to go see their families every 4 or 5 days, not once a month.... Silver-stream for the win.

I'm not going to crucify the poor guy(s) because this LOA stinks (IMHO), just going to play the game.
Taking action when the union negotiators or leaders do not speak for the pilot group as a whole is playing the game. Last time a union rep tried to sell me a crap sandwich like this, we started a recall process. Not saying that is what we need to do in this situation, but simply an example.

Remember, the we are the union and as has been beaten to death multiple times... Teamsters is from the bottom up.

Personally, I'm concerned that they would offer up something so major in terms of QoL for those of us who either commute or have families without consulting the pilot group as a who (survey anyone?).

The majority of the old streamers don't know the difference between a good or bad contract. Most of them this has been their first and only airline and have no experience outside of their Florida bubble. Those for it just see the lights and purty colors of $6k and a measly raise as more than fair, most of them will never sit reserve or think about their fellow man away from home and their family for 18 days. It's definitely an airline with 2 worlds within it. I hope you survivors still there can convince everyone to vote no.

I'm concerned as well man but what we can do right now is send a message by voting this down en masse.

We could argue until we're blue in the face about what SHOULD have been done but what we need to focus on right now is educating those who don't see this as a bad deal.

There is definitely a disconnect between our union leadership and a large portion of our pilot group, that's for sure. We'll have to address that at a later time.

How long is the call out on the new proposed reserve system?
