A shrinking company always has a bright outlook!

Silver Airways

Well, looks like we got all seven cities out of IAD. Slated to begin October 1st. Anybody know when that system staffing bid is gonna be released?

It's been quiet in this thread for a while!

Is Silver an all Saab fleet now?
Any hiring or is Silver downsizing?
Is the Silver training department incorporating changes to the new hire program in preparation for the August 1st ATP written change?

About a fortnight perhaps.

It will be soon.

Hiring frantically.

I don't think we can...I think we need an aircraft weighing 40K or more...or at least a sim for one.

Word is an exemption can be granted for the MGTOW so your Saab sims could be ok. Where do you guys do your sim training? The hardest thing could be finding instructors with ATPs and 2 years airline experience. Would have to be guys/gals on medical leave I would think.

Hey fellas my request to separate from the Air Force was approved so I am going to be looking for a flying job out of Tampa come January. Silver seems like a very good option. What is the key to applying, getting hired, and eventually getting based out of Tampa? Thanks!

I'm just a High School Intern with FLL Operations, so I feel a bit out of place replying on here. Anyways, I sat down and had lunch with the Manager of Safety for Silver Airways yesterday at a NTSB Disaster Seminar.

After our conversation I gained enough knowledge about Silver to answer two of tom11011's questions.

He stated that by October Silver will likely be an all Saab fleet after decommissioning CLE operations.

He also said that Silver isn't "hurting" for pilots, however they are always looking for pilots. Hence the $12,000 signing bonus. He also stated you need at least 1500hrs just to get an interview.

Even though most of you fella's knew all this information just thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce myself to the thread. Happy trails!

What new cities are you guys picking up out of IAD?

I have an interview coming up in 4 weeks and was surprised to learn that there is no sim eval. Anyway, my question is this... How is training on the Saab? I'm a former ERJ driver getting back into the industry after a four year absence. Systems and procedure difficulty as compared to higher tech RJ's? Whats training like?
