Quite so. When an operator begins talking about the non-existent "pilot shortage," it doesn't mean that there's an actual shortage of pilots; just a shortage of pilots willing to work for that particular operator. There is no shortage of applicants seeking to work for good operators.
An operator who cannot attract quality candidates cannot blame the state of the industry of a lack of qualified pilots. Just qualified pilots who will work for what the operator offers, and it may be that the operator isn't so bad, but it's a competitive world, and an operator who cannot attract applicants is not competitive.
It has been a pilot's market for a short time. That time is ending.
There was never a "pilot shortage." That was simply a Kit Darby lie that's managed to live on because those who live in the short term tend to parrot what they hear. There has never been a shortage of pilots.
