About the happiest day of my life was when I blocked in on my last flight for Mesa.

With forecast weather conditions at the destination, how was the flight to be dispatched under CFR 135.219§

§ 135.219 - IFR: Destination airport weather minimums.
No person may take off an aircraft under IFR or begin an IFR or over-the-top operation unless the latest weather reports or forecasts, or any combination of them, indicate that weather conditions at the estimated time of arrival at the next airport of intended landing will be at or above authorized IFR landing minimums.
§ 135.223 - IFR: Alternate airport requirements, similar to CFR 121 Ops
allows for 1 hour prior to after ETA

1. Ceiling 1,500 above Circling MDA,
2. If a circling instrument approach is not authorized for the airport, the ceiling will be at least 1,500 feet above the lowest published minimum or 2,000 feet above the airport elevation, whichever is higher; and
3. Visibility for that airport is forecast to be at least three miles, or two miles more than the lowest applicable visibility minimums, whichever is the greater, for the instrument approach procedure to be used at the destination airport.

It was a Part 121 flight which really doesn't matter since an alternate is required either way and just because of freaking common sense.
That was just the culture at Mesa back then. The System Chief Pilot yelled at PIC's for making a fuel stop halfway to destination when due to unforseen events they would be landing with less than 45 minutes of fuel. His comment was "reserve fuel is there to be used". 😲

Hiring

Hey guys , anyone know if contour is hiring captains ? i applied for the crj position and have 1800 hours/300 turbine/1000 ME. And please i know with these hours i could go to a regional however i want to go to contour. Just need any insider info , because theres very little about this company. If anyone can share insight i would appreciate it.

am i competitive with those hours?

How long does it usually take to hear from them?

I am not at Contour so I don't know their specifics. But I will say that the overall hiring situation is "slow" at the current time. Openings, if any, would likely be filled by applicants who are already typed in the equipment.

Keep trying. Hiring is cyclical and will inevitably pick up in the future.

Hey Davi

Even though they have the CRJ Capt position posted they have stopped DEC for the time being... We are well staffed now with the slow down in attrition and they have a number of young F/Os ready for upgrade... They have to upgrade the folks when they are qualified to key the new Pathway program flowing... Most DEC are former 121 folks with substantial more time... All the DEC on the CRJ have came on with 10,000- 30,000 TTL... Upgrades from F/0 are between 1500-2500 TTL... Markets change so keep your app updated...
