No controversy on my part.

You seem to want to argue what constitutes an employee based on semantics (and I appreciate the information about Eagle Jet FO) whereas I don't care who is paying him when we are discussing the perception on fair treatment. I agree - Eagle Jet FO is responsible for this situation, and it seems from this outside observer that AMF is adding to the problem by allowing it - especially when those interesting facts aren't available to the layman.

I think LRS summed it up very well:

They have a AMF photo ID and are .293 and .299 qualified to fly revenue producing runs. They log time under op specs. We use them to qualify for reduced minimum takeoffs. They wear the same uniform as captains
I don't see controversy at all.
I applaud the fact based answer.
Would have been nice to have that on the very first response ;)

Perception vs. legal reality. Yours is the first, mine is the latter.

And as the AMF apologists and the recruiting department talk about what a great place AMF is to be, the way that you are willing to justify the poor treatment of a fellow aviator like a lawyer in a courtroom should speak volumes as to the culture at the company.

I remember after a miscommunication with UPS led me to fly my run with no cargo on either end a certain base manager said something to the effect of "well we lost money, why should we pay you for the run?"

AMF has its benefits (TPIC) but don't think for a second that after the thrill of burning kerosine wears off it will be a good place to work.

So.. I am right legally. That's all I wanted. He asked a question, I gave him the correct legal answer, proceed with your arguments as to the way the world should be.

I don't think I ever said they were stepping out on their legal obligations, and if I did I spoke in error. However, I did say they are a crappy company who cares more about their bottom line than taking care of the people flying their airplanes.

Glad to see you finally aren't debating that.

Um, no. I want people to know the give and take of working here, but you'd better get your facts straight, because any time you give misleading or outdated information, I'm gonna call you on it.

Lol ok. They are the same shady company as they were when I was there. How's that pilot problem treating you all? Good riddance.

It is getting us big raises, thanks for asking.

Layovers are usually 6 hours ish. Some may be more or less. Again, these guys know the drill. They are here working hard for a better future. I haven't once heard an Eagle Jet FO complain about the situation. Not saying this because it's a good situation, rather, it's an opportunity for them to get where they want to go and they know it.

No one's forcing this upon them. More often than not I come back to base and see the FO's getting into much nicer cars than mine.

No, it is getting 1-2 year pilots big raises.

I make more as a 2 year FO working half the time than a 10 year Metro CA. I would hardly throw big raises out there like the entire payscale is getting adjusted, because it isn't.
