Work Aerial Survey for a season or two to get your times up to around 1800TT. I started doing the survey thing in October 2007 and i'm going to finish my second season this coming May. I have logged about 1400 hours in dong so and get paid more than the FO's at any regional.

Is a sled a 207? If it is a 207 I call it a slug. My first job in Alaska was flying a C-185 on skies landing at base camp at 7300 ft level. It seemed like a lot of fun and not work. Started with no Alaska time and lots of tail wheel time in a C-185.

I took this video in the summer of 2006 from the shoreline of Nunavagaluk Lake, about 12 miles west of Dillingham Alaska. The Albatross had come in and beached at what was then the Crystal Creek Lodge which has since moved to the Naknek River east of King Salmon.

Anyway, the pilot put the landing gear down after coming to a very slow taxi, but because of the soft mud/gravel bottom close to the shoreline, the plane was pretty much stuck after it got turned around.
Many of us, including the pilot, took turns for about an hour digging trenches under water in front of the mains.

The pilot made a few tries with engine power to get unstuck after each group effort with shovels and finally was able to motor off the beach. The plane had several people aboard and had sat on the shoreline for a couple of hours. It apparently shipped a fair amount of water into the belly area. You can see it after takeoff and is still streaming out on his fly by.

That plane has a new paint job and it really looks good. I miss seeing it parked at UAA :(

I dont have a single commercial though.

Dont want to get sucked into the "yeah you will fly" hole and spend most time turnin wrenches like how most people use A&P pilots.
