So, does anyone know what it says exactly? It is you owe 30K if you don't stay for XXX months? If I am way off, please let me know. I am new to this side and have never actually seen one.

It pretty much says stay away. A sign of desperation. Usually companies try to attract and retain pilots with incentives. Cape Air believes in threats.

For a presently working Cape Air pilot, PLEASE:
1. Where are the junior bases?
2. Is the $30,000 one-year commitment presently being required of new hires?
3. How often does the company displace Captains to another base?
4. How long are your normal duty days?
Thanks!

1. No real such thing as a junior base at this company. I can tell you they have a hard time filling spots in BIL and the midwest. Senior bases would be BOS, HYA, the Carribean. I have seen people hold it right after training though. With attrition being so high, anything is possible.
2. Yes...stay away.
3. Not often. Bid every 6 months unless a vacancy bid comes out which is pretty much monthly. People are pretty good not bumping you out of a base. I've only heard of it happening a handful of times. A lot of junior guys are TDY all over the place also.
4. Duty days are typically 13 hours. By the end of the week, you are exhausted and fatigued to say the least. Especially when its -20 or +90 outside.

Thanks for the words, VIRotate. How long ago did you work at Cape Air, or are you presently working for CA?
Another question: how many days per week or month is a Cape Air pilot contracted to work?

You'll always get at least 3 days off per week. Most of the Eas lines are 3 1/2 on 3 1/2 off. The senior lines in Hyannis have a couple 3 on 4 off. And a few lines are 4 on 4 off. 90% of FO lines are 4 on 4 off rotating, some of the bases in some regions have 4 on 3 off.

I worked there for about 10 months. Left a few months ago. And teddy is correct with the days off.

Thanks for the words, VIRotate & teddy3412. Are the workdays day trips or overnighters?

loveme117 04-28-2016 06:47 PM

I'm wondering if Cape Air still has 15 parked 402C's over at HYA....

They are all day trips except BIL I believe. They get hotels as an FO. Not sure about the CAs.
