Default What would you do???

Hey guys, I just want to hear different opinions about this....

I am currently flying a C402, I have about 800 multi engine, ALL PISTON.

Should I accept a job in a C208 Caravan, if offered, to get turbine time???

Thanks all.

depends on what you want to do. Caravan time is technically turbine pic. I think that is where it ends though. The gear doesnt go up and down and it only has one engine. it would be good experience to learn all the crazy annunciators and how a turbine engine works but as far as making you a better pilot it will not do that. That's my opinion anyway. Which job pays better and has more security that is probably the more important thing right now.

Caravan time does fall under 1000hr Turbine PIC. If pay is pretty similar I'd hop over to the caravan. ONLY after you get 1000hrs of multi. After that I dont think another 300hrs of multi will help you anymore but you can start to log turbine pic which would be a bonus.

Basically you're asking which is better, piston-multi or single-turbine..... good question, don't know the asnwer.....but you already have 800 multi, I'd take the Van is pay comparable....

So does that mean that a 402 position is going to be available if you do take the Caravan job? Or vice versa? Because either one would be an upgrade for me.

I'd say at least stick it out until you have 1000 multi PIC, unless the Caravan job is a huge step up in pay/QOL.
