I'll try that sometime. Lately, I've been putting Lousiana Hot Sauce on popcorn. Also, a friend say she puts lime juice on popcorn.

That mod adds a bunch of weight and dollars to the plane. You flew a rare bird indeed.

About icing, a former employer said, "The biggest problem with the Caravan in ice is it is flown by people who have never been in ice."

Starting in '07 (I think), Cessna dropped the boots and went to weeping wings. I never got to fly one of those in ice, so cannot comment on it.

Bull******.

I've flown aircraft in all sorts of icing in many types of aircraft.

The van has a crappy system and no power.

Twin Cessnas, no problems, Aztecs, no problems, all jets and turbo props (except the 'van) no problems.

I just don't buy it.

Mod note:

If we are about to have a debate on Caravan icing I ask that you please keep it civilized and somewhat respectful. This topic has generated loads of acrimony here in the past. State your positions while respecting the positions of others at all times.

The van is a great plane if you don't mind flying at the speed of smell!

How'd you get it to go that fast?

Seriously, I do love the plane.

The 600 HP planes are anemic in wx. The 675 (which I think all the new planes are) is pretty good. No, you can't make her stand on her tail, but she can take care of herself.

The Van is so easy to fly, it's embarrassing. If cost weren't an issue, I would have taught private pilots in it.

The icing equipment is there to get you OUT of icing. If you fly that way, there is no problem.

Just be happy puttering around at 160ish TAS. I loved taking two days to fly from Houston to Helena or Nassau.

(no disrespect intended. You and I have different opinions. Thankfully, that leaves me with what I consider a better airplane.)
