Competative is more like 1000+ for their right seat program. My resume is on file with them but at 600 total they aren't yet interested.

I know a few people that work for them and also have dealt with them as an FBO employee. Their pilots seem to like working for them. They fly well-maintained equipment, have decent bennefits and pay, and upgrade into the Lear in a couple years.

My plan is to go to PanAm academy or ATP to get my CFI ratings, and build my hours! Sounds like a good program? Better than MAPD where you don't get your CFI ratings.

When is the season on this? If I don't have anything to do after march I wouldn't mind hopping on that for the summer.

What is LAB's minimums for hiring??? I couldn't find any info. on their website and they do not reply to email.....
Thanks...

The minimims for 135 day VFR are 500TT. LAB has taken guys at the minimums. You will fly a Cherokee Six PA32 or PA28 Archer. Based is Juneau and fly up and down the Lynn Canal to the various little towns. I flew for Skagway Air Sevice, they require slightly higher time.

The season usually begins around April or May and runs through the end of September. Get your resume in now! It was one of the best summers I can remember! No Night flying, All "VFR", even though IMC conditions are common in this area. Most aircraft have the Capstone GPS system. look it up on Google or LAB website. It is a really cool system.

Again look at www.flyalaska.com for more info.

what do they pay?

Lanesuzza 12-13-2006 02:52 PM

Skagway pays $25 per block hour, $450 month base and they provide housing.
Depending on the weather, I'd say about $2900 per month was normal. We logged about 100 hours each month.
:)

LAB doesn't pay nearly as well as Skagway, but they do have pilot housing.
Wings pays pretty well, But I don't think they have pilot housing. Call Wayne
I don't have any info for Air-X pay. Small company with 3 Cherokee Sixes, Owner is a nice guy.

Sounds like quite the little adventure. I'd have to seriously debate that. Don't think my diesel would run up there too well. Esp 2 wheel drive.
