Exactly right.

I flew for Mokulele in the mainland operation as an FO and a Captain. It was an awesome place to build hours. I was hired at 330 and 12 months later I'm at a regional. The schedule was 4 days on and 4 days off, averaging 7.3/day. The company wants to upgrade you to Captain at 1200 hours so you'll have 9 months at the FO pay.

Could you base actually out of PIT or did they only base the pilots out of the out stations?

Does anyone have any insight as to how FO's out of Hawaii survive? Based on 18K a year and the cost of living, it seems nearly impossible, how do they do it?

Mokulele pilots were based at the out stations. Most of the SunAir crews were based in PIT. I don't know what the hiring situation there is anymore. Southern Airways merged or bought SunAir. If you're looking to get a time building job, try Southern.

Yeah I sent them an email to their info address but have not heard back. I'm interested in them once they start bringing the Caravans online as I currently do not have atp mins to fly the Navajo but am quickly approaching 135 mins (another 150hrs) which would allow me to captain the caravan.

The other idea was to go to Mokulele as PIC, but being from Pit, I want to be able to start the day there...

But really, it's too soon for me to know who to go with as most of the contracts are up this year and I fully expect Mokulele to go after all of the pit routes.

Mokulele was recently awarded the Imperial, California routes and announced it will enter the California market. Any word if they intend to hire for CA based pilots?

What is pay and contractual obligations for PIC? I assume they hire direct entry captains?
