They plan their routes accordingly with glide distances in mind. Whenever they fly over the ocean they have an emergency plan, which would allow them to glide to a suitable landing spot on land.

Also known as 135.183

Doesn't specify "suitable landing spot" btw, just need to reach dry land.

Yeah, most of the time you can make a safe landing, but the reg itself does not require it. Just need to reach dry land.

As of 3 or so months ago, the hiring had stopped for the time being. I spent most of the year trying to get in with them, even had an interview.

No guaranteed hours (from what I heard, people were getting as little as 5hrs a month) and training costs more than getting your CFI. If you get to the training round in Hawaii, it’s glass cockpit flying. But if you will be LAX based, you’ll come back to the mainland and train in the 6 pack. Hope this helps

He is well known in this thread. He has since moved on to Envoy.

All aircraft are now G1000 (Legacy/EX). Monthly bid hours for new SIC's based in LAX are very low. However, you will be paid the monthly guarantee of 70hrs @ $21/hr.

Out of curiosity, where do they fly to from LAX? I would have no desire to move to HI to live on what they are paying however SIC in LAX would be worth it. Their website says all pilots will be based in HI
