Penobscot Island Air (VFR 135)
Hello everyone, I would like to share a unique opportunity that may peak the interest of a few select individuals out there!
Penobscot Island Air is the company name, and they are currently looking for a few good Cessna 206/207 VFR 135 Captains. They are based out of Rockland Maine (KRKD) and fly to the islands in Penobscot Bay. The flying is "bush-type" out of short dirt and grass runways. "Stick and Rudder" skills go a long way! Minimums are VFR 135 (500 TT) It's an incredible location to fly, as summer on the Maine coast is hard to beat.
They fly Mail, freight, cargo, passengers... anything and everything that fits. The flying is challenging, with wind, fog, low ceilings, short runways, obstacles, and heavy loads all being normal or not unusual. Pilots will load, fuel, and clean their aircraft. They staff at 6am and leave when the job is done, usually close to a 14 hour day...then do it all over again! It is certainly a fast paced, and high energy environment! They do have crew housing available on site and pay is based on experience.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in gaining "bush-type" skills without leaving the lower 48.
You can send your resumes to the Chief Pilot Kevin Waters.
