This looks like 1341/2 from what I am reading he wants to have you fly him back and forth from KSAT to KDAL he bares the cost of the hotel for the weekend,

No explanation of operational cost of the airplane and how that is shared wink wink.

I know nothing about this deal or this person, Me? I would stay clear unless this person said I am looking to hire pilot. I am not seeing that. I am seeing someone trolling on a pilot forum.
This is not a job board but sharing info about jobs known to exist would be acceptable I think. This request or offer is quite different, the way I am reading this.

In the mid 70's at the sleepy country airport where I learned to fly a guy showed up in a Navy uniform saying he needed to get to a city that was a 3.5 to 4 hour drive from where we were he had to report to his Ship or he would be awol if he did not get there by a certain time.
He asked the airport manger if any one would could fly him, the manager said nope we do not have a charter certificate. We do not do that here.
The man pleaded to the airport manger. Manager said I can not help you but here is the phone book and there are charter company's that will help you.

The sailor approached several folks that were hanging out at the airport they all refused except one Flight instructor.
The instructor said I can give you dual instruction on the way down if you pay me and for the rental of the airplane back?
The sailor said deal. The sailor then said to the young flight instructor I want to see your pilots license to make sure you are a pilot. The sailor wrote the info down smiled asked the instructor what it was going to cost he gave a figure to the sailor, they exchanged money and off they went after the sailor made a phone call.
Upon arrival at the destination airport the Feds were there to greet them.
Busted for conducting Far 135. Operations with out a charter certificate.
The instructor said he was giving dual to the sailor, that did not float. The sailor was an air carrier inspector and had not worn his sailor uniform in several years it was latter discovered.

The instructor on appeal stated that the inspector was fraudulent in wearing a naval uniform not being in the Navy and that he was only trying to help out a uniformed service man in need.
( The instructor goofed up by taking this on as an instructor for personal gain,
If the instructor truly had intentions of helping a uniformed service man as he stated he would have said let's split the cost of this trip and that was not what happened.)

The instructor became very proficient at asking would you care for fries with that? How about an apple turn over?

This poor guy could could not get hired because he had an FAA violation on his
Record.

The upshot of this is not many years after this the airlines became deregulated and there was a pilot hiring spree like no one had seen since the early sixties.
If you could draw a picture of an airplane you had a job. Well almost.
The point being there was a lot of movement in the aviation industry,
This flight instructor was at the right place at the right time to making it down the road to succeed at becoming a 121 pilot by a legacy carrier.
Regionals did not exist then. So there was no stupid crazy long hours and low pay situations. You did suffer the first year with little flying, after that first year you could eat well. Unlike the commuters just a few years ago where your meal came from the hotel bar at happy hour if you were lucky enough to finish your day before happy hour ended.

Well folks the regionals are beating the bushes for QUALIFIED PILOTS they are offering unprecedented sign on bonuses the pilot shortage that I herd that was coming from 1969 has now arrived. Don't screw it up!

Yes is difficult to build flight time every successful pilot has had that ladder to climb some had it easy! others not so.

The truth is the best jobs in aviation are via word of mouth,

Think about this how many successful business men/women would come to an aviation forum to look for a pilot? Unless they were involved with aviation in some facet. I doubt very many. And if they were they would go through the conventional job boards like Orange to find a pilot.

I am not saying this offer is not legitimate it just reminds me of the instructor at my little grass field. This little field produced many captains that retired from Piedmont Airlines. The Piedmont that flew the DC-3, the Martin 404, the F27, YS-11, the 737-200, 737-300, 727-100'727-200, F28, 767, I am sure I missed one or more variants. But not the Piedmont that flys the Regional jets.

That's my ten dollars worth.

Good luck folks, be safe.

Please forgive me! I wrote a long dissertation about a CFI and a bad decision he made on flying a person on trip and I tied it to your post.
I now see you did in fact offer to split the cost of the travel.

I hope you find someone that you two can work with and help each out! And after reading you post again I see that that is your intentions.

In the words of the great Fonnzzzz I was Wwwwwwwrrrrrooonnnngggg.
Ok I was wrong.

Has anyone seen the ad out KTKI for airline time building in Cessna 172's? The minimum block is 25 hours. Curious if anyone has first hand knowledge of this outfit.
Thanks,
