Is Lufthansa also looking for CFIs? Or Sabena for that matter?

WFFF, also has CFI positions listed routinely.
There was just a crash at DVT. I think it was TransPac. RIP

jumpseater,

did you work for TransPac? or know anyone who did or does? I talked to them and it seems like a good place to work with good pay and benefits. I'm interviewing next week if anyone can give me some advice.

I worked there when it was Pan Am International Flight Academy, not TransPac, thankfully. Like I mentioned earlier, in my opinion, it used to be a good place which has since deteriorated. People used to be hourly, but they changed to salary to get more hours for less from the employees. Everyone I worked with has since left or been fired (to lower cost) and I personally would not choose to work for the current managment. Even the mechanics were fired for making too much and these guys were far overqualified for their pay (ex-mil.). What I have heard of late is from people who still know instructors there... essentially that management is incompetent and they treat the employees poorly. This did not used to be the case, but times change. Currently TransPac relies on the Chinese cash cow. When that goes away, so will TransPac, but by then, it will probably be sold again. Obviously you need to make your own choice given your circumstances. As long as you do not have high expections with bonuses and the such, you won't be disappointed. I am just glad I don't have to take that step. Westwind, which actually was Pan Am until they split (shows you how long ago it was for me) is also across the parking lot, but I do not know if they are hiring. Check the other schools in the area so as to not put all your eggs in one basket. With this recent crash, I imagine the FAA will take a closer look into TransPac operations and I will not be surprised if they find discrepancies. I am actually surprised these accidents do not happen more often which I suppose lends some credit to their current instructors. Just remember, you risk your CFI ticket with every student you send up. Some students are a much higher risk than others. Especially if their English is poor and if the first vehicle they have operated is the plane you are teaching them in. Don't know if this helps any, but best of luck nonetheless.

Just called Lufthansa this morning and asked if there would be any turnaround in the near future and he said "ya it just turned around and now were looking at downsizing and outsourcing".

Well, so much for that prospect.
