Phoenix Area CFI Jobs

Does anyone know good leads to follow in order to find a CFI job in the PHX area? Is google the best place to find flight schools, etc?

I would reccomend going to each of them with a resume in hand. Nothing beats good ole' face time! Seriously, I think you will get better results if you show up in person.

If you can get away, I would check down in Tucson as well. There seemed to be alot of flight training going on down there.

Airnav.com might not be a bad place to check.

Thanks for the advice. I am in a bit of a hard place since I am living in MN right now. Maybe I should just take a week and head down there to investigate.

I hear ya man, when I was instructing, I lived even farther away and was in your same situation (no money and a crappy job). There were a few of us who sent out apps to a few places out there and one actually went out there and walked his resume. He got a job on the spot and none of us even got a call. He did call ahead to make sure some were even hiring. In the end it was worth it for him, he was getting 80-100 hours and months and we were still getting 40 if we were lucky.

It's also getting that time of year to be thinking about banners tow operations. There are a few operator in Hollywood, FL (HWO). Aerial Banners and Van Wagners. The pay seemed pretty dang good at Van Wagners and lots of flight time in a hurry. Just an option! Just be careful and choose your operation wisely, there quite a few shadeballs out there.

Goodluck bro, it's rough but it will get better!

Thanks for the advice. I am looking at a couple different options. I have a really good paying job now, don't even ask why I am looking at becoming a pilot. Go from $65K and an easy sales gig to scraping buy to fly... its insanity. I may be down there in March and I have some good leads.

trans-pac (former Pan-am) is looking for CFI's. But you must have CFII and MEII. Decent pay, paid vacation, benefits etc.

I would try Westwind (which used to be part of Pan Am a long, long time ago) across the parking lot from TransPac. There are also flight schools at Glendale, Scottsdale, and Williams Gateway which have occaisionally posted for CFIs. I would try one of those first.

If it were still Pan Am, I would say go for it. Now that it is TransPac, I would not touch it with a ten foot pole. In my opinion you would be risking your ticket with each student. Anyone in management who was of any worth or value to the place it once was has since left or been fired. I am sorry to say that the good old days of Pan Am have long since gone, in my opinion.

The website also lists have 200 dual given although that's been there for a while. It's also listed as "ideal" so I wonder if you can get in with less. I have around 120 dual given and might apply.

Sebena(spelling?) was at Falcon field and Luftansia(spelling??) was over at Goodyear both pay well. Don't know if they're hiring. ATP is at Williams Gateway when they are busy you will fly alot but times are tough for flight schools right now.

There is a place down in Nogales that flies alot but you are a longs ways from anything.
