Have you been a glider tow pilot?
Hi pilots,
I am a former commercial glider tow pilot. It's been a few (like, a lot of) years since I've towed and was trying to remember what bank angle I typically used at tow release. I banked and dove to my left and I towed in Cessna 182s. One was specially outfitted with a STOL kit.
If you've towed, what aircraft did you fly and at what approx. angle did you bank over? I think I used somewhere between 30 and 45 degrees, but I was wondering if a tow pilot can tell me what they use or remember more precisely.
thanks!

HEy all so what is the process for getting involved in towing gliders. I am trying to build time and there aren't many glider places here in western washington but just for informational purposes how did you guys get involved?

I joined a glider club, I found they had ulterior motives. Their insurance required 500 hours tailwheel so I disappeared into the towplanes.
We've gotten away from the mad dive down, I bank about 30-45 degrees to get a 90 degree course change and roll out to get some distance. If I have to turn back towards the glider to get back to the field this gives me some time to find the glider when I turn back.
