Smile Have you been a glider tow pilot?

Hi pilots,

I am a former commercial glider tow pilot. It's been a few (like, a lot of) years since I've towed and was trying to remember what bank angle I typically used at tow release. I banked and dove to my left and I towed in Cessna 182s. One was specially outfitted with a STOL kit.

If you've towed, what aircraft did you fly and at what approx. angle did you bank over? I think I used somewhere between 30 and 45 degrees, but I was wondering if a tow pilot can tell me what they use or remember more precisely.

thanks!

I joined a glider club, I found they had ulterior motives. Their insurance required 500 hours tailwheel so I disappeared into the towplanes.

We've gotten away from the mad dive down, I bank about 30-45 degrees to get a 90 degree course change and roll out to get some distance. If I have to turn back towards the glider to get back to the field this gives me some time to find the glider when I turn back.

wow that much time for insurance purposes?? They are killing low time pilots because not many has the required number of hours to fly for companies with that kind of insurance!
