ya spaceland, tell them you want the right seat time now, or your gone. IDK the dzo there, he could mean it, but I sure have seen alot of promises in this industry and little kept. Skydiving is great fun, and I am not speaking for everyone, but don't work for later promises, you prol wont see them, esp turbine time, if you can't get them now, don't count on them.

Just my 2 cents. Get that degree! Everything else will come in time.

Get your CFI, get some dual given, then focus on getting multi time and/or turbine. Preferably both at the same time.

I say this from experience. My multi time didn't come until later in my time building and I wish I had gotten more earlier.

It sounds like this owner is leading you on. There are a lot of d-bags in aviation.

Wow, its sounding like DZ's are pretty brutal! Is it pretty fair to say just stay completely away from them??

Nah... you just need the right attitude and be aware of what to expect. DZs can be a lot of fun under the right owner/manager.

Don't expect the planes to be in tip-top shape... chances are you'll start in a 182 that's been a jump plane since the late 50s. The engine and radio may be the only things that actually work...I'm not kidding.. well maybe the altimeter and airspeed - but can be it.

The flying is a blast. You'll fly a descent and landing profile quicker than you ever thought was possible. It's all stick [yoke] and rudders. You will have emergencies. You will never fly a wide pattern again. You'll have little patience for CFI antics. A 60 (+) degree bank 20 feet above the ground base to final will be just another landing.

All in all it's fun - if you're at the right spot.
