Default clarification needed regarding PC recency for

hi all,

I am trying to seek clarification on PC recency for part 91 delivery flying of airline aircraft. PC's are valid for 12 months unless you hold multiple types.

There is a need to ferry aircraft type A. My last PC on aircraft type A was 18 months ago so therefore I cannot operate as PIC.

I am also typed on aircraft type B and my last PC on aircraft type B was 20 months ago so I cannot operate as PIC on this either.

If I did a PC on type B tomorrow, would that then extend the timeframe on aircraft type A to 2 years thus making it possible to operate as PIC on aircraft type A for another 6 months?

Its a long winded question I know but conversations with several check airman at various training outfits has confirmed that there is a lot of confusion out there regarding this.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I don't think the PC on B would renew the Type A as both had expired. Also, 61.55 requires an SIC check, so you can't act as an SIC w/o a check.

Except 61.55(g) says the SIC does not need the recency in an aircraft for a ferry flight if they hold a commercial or ATP.

61.58 requires two things. You need a check within 24 months for that type aircraft. You have that. The only other thing it says you need is a PC in another turbojet within the last 12 months. What the insurance company says may be a whole nother story.

Twin wasp,

Yes, I agree. I finally found an organisation that pinned down the answer and you are correct.

A PC will provide recency for 24 months months in another aircraft.

BTW, when you say "What the insurance company says may be a whole nother story."

Do you think an insurance company may require less time between PC's?
