Default American Flyers CFI Program

Anyone plan on attending AF this March in any of the locations? I am looking into either Florida or Texas due to the weather being better than the NJ location at that time of the year. The guy I have been emailing say's there is a Hotel that can do 280 per week in TX, while AF provides rooms in FL for 45 solo, or 40 with a roommate. Anyone have any experience (recommendations) for this? I wouldn't mind having a roommate as long as he/she was in the CFI program as well. Any advice is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance! Sorry for ****ty grammar (too tired to check, 4:21am and worked all night)...

Default questions

Anyone that is planning or have gone to the American Flyer? I am thinking of doing the 15 day to get the CFI-A at least. They have the cost on the site for the training but nothing about the DPE cost. Anyone know home much more you need to add into the budget of the 3195 especially for the DPE cost, food, hotel and maybe even the Transportation of car and flight to get there. I am looking into going to the texas location.

Thanks, I am trying to decided weather it would be good cost to do it there or stay here and use it for the training at local FBO.

I did the 15-Day in Addison the beginning of January. DPE cost was $800.00, and some may vary slightly. Also if you get a FAA Inspector instead they are free so you could request an inspector. Depending on your experience you may spend more than the quoted cost. Almost everybody in my class finished in 4 flights for the sign off. In this case you will be good on money, but you also have to pay for the rental of the 172RG for the actual check ride, so add that to DPE costs.

What do you mean almost everybody finished in 4 flights? In the quoted price of ~3,200 they say it includes 7 training flights. Are you saying that most of your class only needed 4?

It's actually 7 hours of flight time for the CFI 15-Day and they add 3 more hours for the CFII for a total of 10 hours for the 30-Day guys. Yes almost everybody just needed 4 flights to get there sign off with a 2 year CFI. At 4 flights you are brushing up on 7 hours of flight time. I did three flights because I am doing my sign off back home and I still had enough money in my account for another 2 hours of flight time.
