Any takes on American Flyers CFI renewal??
Hey guys, its that time of the year for me again... I will be renewing my cfi for the fourth time. I decided to do something different this time and take the two day course at American Flyers in Pampano beach Fl. I always renew it on line and that got old quickly! Anyways, just wondering if anyone out there had any takes on the course. Thanks!

I went to American Flyers the other day to inquire about getting my PPL an the place gave me a bad vibe. It seemed like your just a number to them and $$$ and they will do what it takes to push you through the program... It was also VERY expensive. I was quoted $10,500 for my PPL with 25 hours of ground school and 35 hours with an instructor and 5 hours of solo. I don't know a whole lot about this field since I am a newbie but that seems expensive to me?

Covsting, the PPL and CFI renewal are two totally different ballgame.
Mufaza, I've only taken the online course, so I can't speak for the FIRC, but it's hard to beat the online course if you're already an active instructor that's in the mix. Now if I was a guy that didn't do much dual and wanted some good updates, I've heard the FIRC's are really good also. I'm just cheap.

My cfi is coming up for renewal as well. I was going to try the AOPA online corse or FIRC in Columbia SC any ideas on either. I a corporate pilot so schedualling is a factor. I have never done one of the online courses are they as bad as everyone says.

The online courses are not that bad. I just have been doing them for the past three renewals and I just wanted to try something new. If you can dedicate a couple hours a day, you should be able to knock it out in no time!

CFI renewall at PMP is good. You sit around for two days BS'ing about aviation. I believe they had either pizza or a BBQ day on Saturday. Either way the time was good. Patrick O'connel is the instructing there and he is a hoot. You will have a good time.

Greetings Elc,
I did the AOPA 2 day seminar a few years back, I liked it, however none of the seminars are going to mesh with my schedule or days I need off. I just purchased the online course for half the price. Good way to kill some time on the road. So far the presentations are excellent.
Cheers,
AA

For anybody doing the CFI renewal, I Just completed all the online courses, and it was a piece of cake... completed it within 24 hours of purchase...
purchased 5:30 pm... completed 4 stages... went to bed at 12:30am... went to work ... done at 5:00pm.
Easy to navigate, just all around a good buy... I just hope my paperwork is right before i waltz into the FSDO on Wed....
