If 56 is the final number of 145s, then why are we still hiring 20/month when we have another pilots for 56 planes

Overall i like this place and yes i have a hell of a good time. I just don't see the aa wholly owns having much luck getting new blood, keeping training departments running and adding 900 new pilots to their mainline side. Things are going to get nuts by the time we get to summer again. |

*Allegedly* the goal is to put 40/month into the pipeline starting late 2nd or 3rd Quarter 2018. The company is going to have to step up its pay/benefits/schedules game for that to happen... For the goal to be 40/ month new hires entering the pipeline they’ll either need to continue bringing 145s online (*allegedly* 3/ month for as long as they can staff getting more) or wrangle up some of those mythical 175s they keep promising are part of the “long term plan”. Either way, the junior captain award went to a pilot with 5 months on property (still in training).... Once they complete SOE they go right into Captain upgrade. If Piedmont ends up taking on another 36 jets in 2018, Captain upgrade awards should still be pretty low in 2018 and 2019. Once growth stops and the attrition rate normalizes you’ll likely see a longer wait for captain upgrades. |
To be realistic, it is certainly possible the 56 number we were told was just a goal for end-of-year 2018, but someone else in here had a great point that there eventually will have to be a limit as Envoy only has so many 145s to give away.
Really not trying to start any rumors at all here, pure speculation. But I remember reading something about a promise of E175s in the contract. Did I read that right? Is it possible those could come after our "final" 145? Also, on a more positive note, it is now being reported that there is no delay between LOE and SOE. |

AA is at scope limits now for 175s but they do keep adding narrow body aircraft so they can an add more. I won't be here for it either way.... |
[QUOTE=MKUltra;2486365]we're losing new hires that came to Indoc and are impatient to wait their torn for training.
I’m surprised people do that. Think it’s short sighted. I was thinking more along the lines of getting hired at places other than flowing, when talking about outside attrition. |
For 2018 I would expect 56 145's and about 750 pilots on the roster.
Our hiring will be strictly to cover attrition. The 750 pilots will be enough to form a healthy reserve. PHL will be the base for the foreseeable future. Flow will be 6 per month. If you keep that in your head you won't be dissapointed when the growth doesn't continue or the 175's never come. |

Spoiler: 56 is the hard number. We’ll get whatever we can staff beyond that. Who knows if it’ll all be 145s or something else. I really could care less though, I like more mainline flying and less regional flying. Y’all can keep your 175s |
I don’t get why we need to double our sim capacity, considering we are close to the end of the Dash era anyways. A lot of our math doesn’t add up, but this is Piedmont lol so stay tuned and hang on to your butts!

By owning 2 simulators we would be able to have one dedicated to new hire and upgrade training and the other one would be for CQ. The costs associated with owning two simulators would obviously be cheaper than renting over an extended period. We just removed the Air Wisconsin sim from CLT, which frees up the spot for our new sim which allegedly we have but haven't started work on yet. |
