You are not required to have a company ID to non rev but KCM makes TSA encounters much better.
For my class (June 2017), we were in the AA system by the end of indoc. It took a week or so for our dependents to be added. Those whose wished to non-rev to CLT had their badges and KCM within 2 weeks. Most just waited for their systems ground school to pick them up.

Just a heads up you don't need your kcm badge to go through kcm. It's a glorified bar code that pulls you up in the system. They can do the same with your employee number.

For those interested, the wait between systems and sim is now ~3 weeks and shrinking

That's not bad news, but Systems isn't the bottle neck, sims are. The important number is the time between Indoc and sims. How that gap gets split with systems is largely irrelevant. A 2 month gap before Systems and 2 month gap after Systems doesn't get you through training any faster than 3 months before and 1 month after.

So, how much shorter has the span gotten between end of indoc and start of sims?

Well, no. The gap between indoc and systems has remained largely unchanged. The gap between systems and sim got cut in half in a matter of 2 weeks. So three weeks off your training timeframe, which matters
