If the company offers triple prem while people are on furlough that is sad.

if someone picks up said 3x prm they are up there on the list of A-hole along with scabs.

Or any open time, frankly.

Curious. If/when furloughs happen. How long would it take to get an FO or CA back up and running? What if it’s still within the 90 days of their last 3 TOL’s? Just show up and go? What if it’s 6 months? Just a simple throw in the sim then go? Just trying to figure stuff out.

Furloughing is far from new at Piedmont. If you think downturns and layoffs are new territory for any of the people who run your flight department, you’re kidding yourself and should probably learn about the industry. Not trying to shoot you down, just telling you how it is. It’s easier to think your way than to face reality. I‘m more than likely hitting the street, so I’ve found myself thinking this way too. But in the long run it’s better to be realistic. We’ll all get through this. Anyone dealing with this can PM me and we’ll commiserate.

At AA it is different depending on your time out. Theoretically you could get your bounces in the sim every 90 days and stay current. That’s what widebody FBs do. An absence of 12 months would probably earn you four sim sessions

Look at the amount of open time now. I am lucky to just have made the cut NOT to get furloughed, but I have a feeling we are going to be working 75 hours a month, 11 days off. They would rather work us to no end than keep a handful of extra pilots around who would not get called everyday.

How comical that they just finished training people too, and now they are getting furloughed. What a Piedmont thing to do. I hate to sound like the negative Nancy here, but the past 2 years at Piedmont I have tried to make it positive. I can’t imagine being a pilot who’s being furloughed.

LOL. In this environment that management evaluation will read, “Achieved optimum utilization of limited assets by using available pilots and aircrews to maximum legal extent during this rating period resulting in $6 million of cost avoidance for Piedmont.”

Literally every airline that’s announced a furlough will be furloughing pilots that “just finished training” since they were all hiring prior to this. That’s how it works. Also, just because you (barely) made it past the first round of furloughs doesn’t mean you won’t feel the effects.

So. Follow up. You get furloughed, do you still get travel benefits? Been looking in the contract and not seeing anything.
