Don't quite follow what you're saying, but I was wondering whether some classes are only new hires, some are only upgrades, or if they are all a mix for the most part. Not talking about DEC

Ohhhh I follow you. I'm guessing that in the bid memo they were saying no captains were going to recurrent. No captains listed for recurrent, yet two 145 classes listed on the training drive so that would make sense

The systems/procedures classes tend to be half captains (upgrades or
Dash transitions) and half first officer (new hires or Dash transitions). Sometimes it's not exact and we end up with one or two FO/FO pairings out of 20 pilots/10 crews for simulator training. It makes simulator training go better if we have a captain and a FO paired in the simulator.

For those that are hired, during the gap between indoc and systems (I hear it's 3-4 months) is it accepted by the company to work other flying jobs? I would assume they would want you to stay out of trouble and not risk getting a violation or anything like that.
Aside from what they officially say, is it prudent? I.e. if you show up to systems and aren't really sharp and they find out you were working another job, that might make some waves right?

Take the pay. Go to Thailand. Live well for three months. Come back relaxed and with a tan. 😎

If you aren’t really sharp and have another job what difference would it be from not really sharp and not having another job?
