Does anyone live in Philly, specifically somewhere in center city area?
I’ve been looking for places to rent an apartment when I get hired on with piedmont, West Philly near university city is seeming like an okay choice, also checking out the northern liberties area.
Yes, living in the city is kinda pricy, but when you look at the suburbs they aren’t much cheaper.
Just curious about other pilots living situation in the area.

West Chester is a good suburb that a bunch of people live in.

I live in Center City Philly, and honestly, it’s a great spot if you want to be close to everything—work, restaurants, and nightlife. Northern Liberties is really popular too, especially for younger people, with a cool vibe and lots of new apartments. West Philly near University City is more affordable and has a strong community feel, plus easy access to public transit. Yeah, renting in Philly isn’t cheap, but like you said, the suburbs aren’t much cheaper once you factor in commuting. Good luck with your hunt!

Yeah I'd live in the city if young with no kids. I remember having trouble getting to work from West Chester in winter storms, while on probation. I could have really used a 4WD truck.

Philly is surprisingly affordable for being the 6th largest in the country. If you won't have a car, West Philly is probably better because the SEPTA airport line at UPenn is about a 20 minute ride to terminal E/F stop. This makes it a breeze to be at the airport when you're on short call. From Northern Liberties you'd need to take some extra time to get to Jefferson station in Center City.

Unfortunately yes. It is a Catch 22. Great areas to live, but Trenton is a clownshow, we have stupid high taxes, and our new Gov is telling people to impede law enforcement instead of listening to her constituents to unclownshow Trenton and lower taxes. Yay.
