Or if you read the article Morgan says PDT has no plans. That being said the decision to move would most likely come from the mothership in DFW. Additionally not sure if the rumor is true but the lease agreement in SBY is incredibly cheap.

Agreed that Piedmont has a sweetheart lease agreement with incredibly cheap rent. But a harsh reality (and hinted upon in the interview) is the fact that the height of the two existing Piedmont Hangar doors are only 30'. That's well below the tail height of the EMB-175 at 32'3". I know this for a fact because it's been measured. The existing hangars will accommodate the EMB-175 fuselage and main wing, but you're not going to be able to close the hangar door behind the EMB-175 because the tail is higher than the hangar door opening. Isn't American planning to remove all 50-seat ERJ-145s from the fleet prior to December 2030? If so, and Piedmont's HQ and primary maintenance facility for their entire fleet of new EMB-175s is to remain at SBY, then a totally brand new complex needs to be planned and built well prior to 2030. Will American (paying that cost) want to keep Piedmont at SBY or relocate that cost to another (larger) location? Though questions ahead that need to be answered SOON.

The rumor back in the day, back when the earth was still cooling, was that they had a 99 year lease with Wicomico county for $1 a year.

If all they need is door clearance, you just build a ramp that raises the nose

Piedmont is very resistant to change. If they had it their way they'd still be flying Dash 8s instead of those scary jets... word is that the long term costs of SBYHQ are extremely low thanks to Mr. Henson which is why it never fully moved to the MDT facility in the way before times. If Starfleet Command moves it's not because they wanted to.

The hangar issue can be alleviated by new doors that have cutouts for the tails of aircraft to stick out.

Unless there's been a firm committment from AA HQ to PDT MGMT that they will be getting them, why do we all assume PDT will get E175's? We only know that AA will phase out the 50 seaters by "end of decade" (AA"s words, not mine). Let the speculation keep swirling that AA does some consolidating of the WO's....

PDT is the land time forgot. It was like that 30 years ago, and it still hasn't changed.
