Default Sinking Piedmont

There has been a lot of gossip floating around the web of Piedmont (UsAirways Express T-Props) closing up shop in the next few months. Being the optimist i am, i tend to believe its all pilots doing their thing, but i can't help but wonder if it's legit. Any one have any hard info?

Closing up shop in the next few months? Hadn't heard that one (though I don't read every thread on these forums), but I'm sure you know of SYR closing and what that means for the near future. Why don't you tell us what you know, since you work there, instead of asking people from other companies about what's going on at your company?

Oh, and I think most of us know that PDT flies the turboprops for USAir... if someone didn't, you wouldn't want their advice about the topic anyway.

I realize I may have just sounded a little harsh... didn't mean to, but oh well.

This is the first I've heard of PDT thinking about shutting down. There is more online chatter about pilots hoping to secure a good Q400 rate and a flow through to US Airways..

I'd be really surprised to hear that they would be closing their doors.. I know a few FOs over there and they havent mentioned anything about that.. granted most of them are trying to leave PDT, but I figure they wouldve mentioned something as big as a shut down..

the overgrown turboprop TA did pass, so who knows. but personally i do believe that it's a smokescreen for pdt people. why pay us more when colon will do it for cheaper? we'll probably get the atr anyways because it's cheaper. remember we're a low class carrier now!

I dont think they are, but I think the powers at be over at PDT believe that if they've got the rate set, its a lot easier to put a bid out for potential Q400 flying

should be interesting, I havent heard of this happening but they do have a good history flying the dhc fleet already. The northeast will already be fairly saturated with the 400 from CJC with 15 by june for cal and then options for 20 more and delta interest.

It would be good to see a bunch of them around. I hope PDT does actually get them and they pay well on them to set the bar high when lynx and colgan could not. Could give us some leverage if/when alpa comes on board and we start to negotiate.
