ALBANY — Piedmont Airlines has offered its pilots a “free pass” on required, annual safety training that tests their flying skills in return for providing names of fellow pilots who anonymously raised concerns to The Buffalo News in January about an airline safety device, its pilot union has charged.

If true, some airline managers should go to jail. Not fined, but wear an orange jumpsuit and spend 6-12 months being told by bosses they'd have more bathroom privileges and an extra dessert if they'll become a prison informant.

Isn't that implied when they offer you a free "pass"? Why would you need a free pass otherwise?

Kudos to the folks attempting to stand up to this.

I wonder if the FAA is at all concerned about the implied abuse of training/examination authority...all they said was "no comment".
